Full Moon in Virgo

We arrive at the full moon in Virgo tonight / tomorrow 7:27am (Melbourne, Australia) which brings us to a time of heightened physical presence. We now have a strong light shining on the tangible world, and as I embark on a new journey of study, I am literally beginning to look at the finer details of human biology and structure more closely than ever before. So for me, this full moon really has sway…though born with the moon in Cancer, the sign ruled by the moon herself, I am definitely more governed by the lunar cycles anyway.

Looking at the cellular level of the body as I begin studies in Chinese Medicine, I find this Virgo full moon really strong…providing greater insight into the finer structure and make up of the world in the physical sense. In writing this month’s update, I would also like to share my recent accomplishment of being shortlisted for a Scholarship for my studies. In itself, I was humbled to receive the call for an interview. It was in this interview that I had my attention turned towards my academic achievements so far. I guess though “Academic” to me, this is still a question of achievement, even though this would more so be considered  relative to the sign of Gemini…I would still relate this to Virgo, being ruled by Mercury, especially when it comes to the study of “Health” – being my field of study.

So, maybe this full moon, you too could turn your attention towards your own achievements  in celebration and recognition of efforts applied…for this is what we build our physical life upon. So in celebration of this full moon in Virgo, I give thanks for finally becoming an author a whole year ago, giving birth to “The Sacred Psychology of Healing – Secrets to Awakening the Mind-Body Potential”. I also give thanks for already having attained a Diploma in Holistic Counselling, so that I could now focus more upon other areas of study with an exemption for my new Degree. This full moon, maybe you too could give thanks for something that you have previously done that has later become a valuable foundation upon which you continue to build your legacy in life.

For Virgo is an Earth sign, helping us to learn lessons around the power in taking one small step at a time. As the ancient Egyptians built pyramids one stone at a time, we too can now see clearly how valuable each small step or stone may be in leading us to greatness. Maybe this full Moon in Virgo can help you understand that it is the small cellular level of existence that makes up the vast and wondrous world around us…and to understand this, can help us meander through the greater challenges of attaining perspective, in the bigger picture. As I look forward to teaching Yoga tomorrow, I wonder if you too can commit to taking time out for yourself, in the light of this full moon, to contribute to an overall sense of wellbeing long term. Maybe today, under this beautiful Virgo full moon…you could commit to dedicating just small windows of your life to a greater cause, for the purpose of longevity and sustainability…from the personal level and beyond.

May this full moon bring you many blessings and wisdom,

Love Leah

Take your own advice

Even if your inner whispers tell you to listen just this once…to someone else…what do you do? Do you fight every natural inkling and instinct to go one way, or do you listen to that voice within to try something new? What I wonder, what would you then do? I find it so interesting that we all have so many aspects to our psycho-spiritual being, that all at once we are so often in constant magnetic push and pull, for the purpose of balance, growth and learning. I’ve always been a believer In leaving no stone unturned…for I don’t see the need for regret in any case. Just gratitude for the love we learn along the way. Being where I am today, like you…at a new standpoint looking out below to the world we strive to build ourselves upon, I have been drawn strongly to the reflection of who I am now in comparison to who I was then, yesterday, one month ago, two months ago, even a year ago…and to be honest I am humbled by what’s possible. Simply through the willingness to explore and discover who are are and who we are not, I am a believer in the power of willingness to let go of ideas of who we think we are to find out who we truly are, without should’s, comparisons and measurements against the outwardly accepted.

A year ago, I set upon a journey. Not knowing where I would end up, but open to seeing. And for this experience, I am better off. Better off for knowing and learning what I am capable of and what I do not want. I learnt during this time, how much I treasure what I never knew was my own prosperity, my blessing and treasure… my life. So, coming back to my inspiration for this update, I am drawn to share with you, the power of reassessing everything we create from the vision of who we are now, as opposed to the different person we were “back then”. As a Feng Shui practitioner of more than 10 years, I’m a big advocate of letting go of the old and making way for the new to attract and welcome what we aspire to achieve, in all aspects of life.

From the realm of self definition and beingness, to attainment, relationships and wellbeing in every sense, I believe we change rapidly, if only we are curious enough to explore the aspects of ourselves that are yet to be fulfilled. I believe the more we grow, the more we let go…just as the Japanese philosophy of Zen Buddhism instils, that we become more abundant when we have more space for possibility to expand in the imagination, set ourselves free in emptiness and space, un cluttered by past attachment and accumulation. Where some people feel that wealth is equal to accumulation, I have come to the point where I now believe wealth to be a largely misunderstood term, that is interpreted under a false idea that accumulation means the promise of respect and freedom.

I’ve now come to see accumulation as the binding to things once sought for the purpose of distraction, from those things yet to be fully appreciated for their value in our lives. If we only trust ourselves enough, I feel that we are capable of becoming leaders in the realm of self evolution and unity with the ultimate purpose of gratitude, presence and fulfilment regardless of outer circumstances. Abstract yes, for some…but for many, this is a simple principle of ultimate perfection of being aware of the blessings in each and every challenge or loss, that promises great discovery of human potential and nature, being of a higher purpose of contributing on the larger more influential sphere.

From this reflection, I have come to see that it is important in life, to every once in a while, reassess who we are, what we choose and how we live. I feel it wise to change our outer expressions of identity and habits for the purpose of being true to our greater spiritual wisdom, from the transcended evolutionary miracles we are if we just allow ourselves to be, freely, unrestrained by ideas of who we used to be. If you were you, who you are today…would you buy that item of attire? Would you spend your well earned material value on consumable materiel, to the cost of higher priorities? What would you really spend your time, energy and money on? What would you really fill your space with?  I wonder…if only you were true to who you are now, beyond imprinted persuasions and acceptance of misguidance from outer judgement, would you choose all that you have previously chosen? Maybe that’s something that you could change, in this year of the Water Snake of transformational shedding and evolution.

Empower yourself…is what I’m saying!

Welcome to the Year of the Water Snake

Today is Chinese New Year’s eve before the “Solar” Year of Water Snake arrives tomorrow. The “Lunar” Chinese New Year begins on the New Moon on the 10th. This New Moon will be in Aquarius.

A greatly divine and synchronistic transit into a New Age, after the end of a symbolic ancient calendar. The Water bearer brings the Water Snake to us for great change to take place in the Spiritual realm. The Serpent is a symbol of healing & medicine.

This year we can expect great levels of transformation as the skin is shed to reveal deeper layers of the soul as we move like a snake towards the light (sun). The Snake is a Fire animal, ruled by the Heart – Astrologically associated with the Sun (the heart of the Universe) & seat of Consciousness (shen).

Find out more about what this year holds possible for you in my earlier post, exploring each of the 5 Chinese Zodiac elements, before the last Full Moon in Leo update.

Further to this, I want to continue the exploration of the year to come, from a deeper perspective. As an Astrologer, I consider myself to be somewhat of a Mathematician, able to calculate energy and determine equations. It is only in being given a question, that I can formulate the answer that will only be relevant to the one seeking answers. Only in questioning do we find the answers, which brings me to further explore the influence of this year over certain people and aspects of life on earth itself.

As you can see from the image used above, this year has strong connections to the energy of the Serpent, known for it’s affinity with the realm of healing, ascension and evolution towards “light”. As a Snake moves towards the Sun, shedding it’s skin, we see a clear dynamic of Transformation that takes place as we transit through this new Astrological year. Many people will ask me as they generally do, with regards to the meaning of certain Astrological influences, “Is this a good or bad thing?”

My answer…”It is all relative.” This year will mean different things to different people yes. For some people, it will be a year of great harmony…as many would assume otherwise, given the interpretation of the “clash” of elements we see with the Fire of the Snake animal alongside the presence of the Yin Water element.

In very general terms, this will be translated as opposing elements bringing destruction, however, to some…this destruction will be in areas that require change and the letting go of old binding patterns, akin to the symbol of the butterfly, leaving it’s cocoon. As water puts out the fire, we can see many people laying to rest certain aspects of their lives that may have been great barriers to self evolution.

As water brings steam to the fire, we can see new life where fire once burned away our efforts…now fertile ground for new beginnings to bring life to seeds of inspired dreams in wait of the perfect time for germination. To certain people, this years elements bring balance, as water and sun brings growth to the willows in waiting.

For others, this year brings warmth required to balance the cold, yet water to support those in need of strength and rest. For those born on the year, day, month or hour of the Monkey, this year will bring an interesting phase of worthwhile challenges to reveal potential. The Monkey month born between the first week of August to the first week of September can expect a year of greater contribution and increased self worth in the gifts discovered in the pursuit of purpose.

For those born in the Pig year, month, day or hour, this year brings incredible change and transformation that can also manifest as greater balance, strength and direction. People born on a Yang Earth day can expect deeper connections and soul harmony with loved ones, with great potential for deeper commitments and relationship energy.

So while there is a judgment of disharmony between the elements, there lies a truly beautiful potential for new levels of achievement for many. Water brings mist to the fire this year as we enter the Snake, which hold a clear essence of awakening through the transformational shedding of old skin as fire burns away the past and water renews the spirit.
